The Long Wait
Every evening, Loading Cat reports to the freight terminal and selects the warmest patch of floor. One parcel circles the belt. The bar reaches ninety-nine percent. He watches it with the grave concentration of a union inspector, then takes no measurable action. Visitors remain because leaving now would waste the ten minutes they have already invested. He considers this excellent retention and schedules another pause.
